Memoriam for Army Veteran Bob Valdez
Raymond Robert Valdez, affectionately known as Bob or Bobby, of Surprise, Arizona, passed away in Phoenix, Arizona, on June 16, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born in Douglas, Wyoming, on February 27, 1939, to Rosendo Valdez and Elidia Gurule. Bob had six siblings: Michael “Mike,” Maria, Nicolas “Nick,” Victoria, Richard, and Francisco “Cisco.” Bob was an Army veteran. His Army career spanned over 21 years, with more than six years as an enlisted man and over 14 as an officer. His daughter, Kay Leighton, and her husband, Larry, are residents of Corte Bella.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8th, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Surprise Funeral Care, located at 16063 W Bell Rd, Surprise, AZ 85374.
The Celebration of Life will take place at Surprise Funeral Care from 9 to 10 AM on Wednesday, July 9th. A hot-catered breakfast will be served from 10 to 11:45 AM.

The commitment will take place on Wednesday, July 9th, at 1:00PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona (2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024). It will be a full military funeral with honors.
